To All Cappies Schools
During the Critic and Mentor training, we identified some concerns regarding the Cappies Room before the start of a show. There was some confusion about when and if Directors of shows should address the critics. There also have been a proliferation of videos in the Cappies rooms and differing expectations of how and when these videos are used.
1)
The only reason a Director of a show should address the critics is for some emergency situation.
- Our lead broke their leg yesterday and that is why they are in a wheelchair.
- Our whole lighting system died this afternoon and that is why we only have work lights.
- Our Supporting Actress had a family emergency and that is why the actress playing Miranda has a script in her hands.
These explanations should be as brief and factual as possible.
2)
- The only video that will be played in the Cappies room is a video that was used by the Publicity and Marketing team to publicize the show. There must be a statement that explains where and when the video was used. (morning announcements, You Tube etc.)
- This video must be played on a loop that does not require anyone from the Host School to operate.
- When it is time for the mentors to begin the pre-show discussion with the critics, the video will be turned off.
- Under no circumstances will a video be shown to the critics as a group.
We appreciate your attention to these concerns and thank you for your continued support of the Cappies.
